Q: My jacket needs to be washed. What should I use?

A: Washing your jacket or other outdoor apparel is just as easy as washing your laundry. You’ll need to follow the care label on your outerwear, but jackets and pants can most often be machine-washed. Take note: common detergents like Tide, Cheer, Gain, All, etc. are too harsh for your outerwear. They’re great at getting stains out, which means they’re also great at getting waterproofing materials out. We have a solution: you can get your jacket clean without disturbing the DWR (durable water repellent) coating with Tech Wash soap, made specifically for technical gear that needs a wash.

Tech Wash maintains breathability & original water repellency of your outdoor clothing, and can be used in your washing machine.

Nikwax (the maker of Tech Wash) also makes waterproofing products for any garments that have lost their water repellency (or never had it in the first place). You’ll find spray-on or wash-in waterproofing solutions, treatments for fabric, leather and shoes, and more.

This Week at Shep’s – 12/26 – 1/1

This week at Shep’s we aren’t featuring a particular brand, but we’ll keep you in the loop with what’s going around here.

Our main headline: Our rental area is up and running! Skis & snowboards have been going out like crazy. Click here to get all the info about our rental programs and to fill out a rental request form. Wish we could share a pic, but we have so much rented out right now, you wouldn’t get the rental department in all of it’s glory. Really, it’s looking great. We’ll post a photo soon.

For all our Smartwool fans: we have an order of socks & base layers coming in soon. If you’ve shopped recently and haven’t found the size you needed, stop by this weekend or next week and you might have better luck! (Yes, women’s medium socks are on their way. Whew!)

Other news: We received a second order of Stormy Kromers! Just got in a bunch of the Ida Kromers for women (a couple new colors/plaids), and more sizes for the men. Also got in a few of their great carryall bags! We’re loving the brand more and more…

Last but CERTAINLY not least, we have at least 20% off all in-stock clothing, 15% off goggles & helmets, and new things on our 50% off rack. We think you’ll like what you find.
