Shepherd & Schaller Sporting Goods, with Midwest Best Snowboard & Freestyle Ski Team, is presenting a ski and snowboard contest Saturday, February 11th, 2012.
The event will take place at the Marathon County Public Library in downtown Wausau following Wausau Area Events “Winter Fest” activities. The now annual Rail Jam, dubbed “Jibz-n-Bibz” will include age specific divisions along with an open class and will feature ski and snowboard industry vendors and food available for purchase from the Mint Café of Wausau.
Registration will be on-line at www.midwestbest.org and on site from 4:00-5:30pm on event day. An adult signature (18 years or older), parent or guardian, is required on all event forms.
Winners will be announced following the contest at the event course, around 8:00pm. Shepherd & Schaller Sporting Goods will distribute cash and prize awards to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place competitors in each class. Door prizes will be drawn for registered participants and spectators.
An event of this caliber is typically held in the Mountains out West. Wausau (Granite Peak) has become a legitimate destination for first class ski and snowboard athletes, and our locals know there’s no need to travel for great competition and the fun atmosphere of a Rail Jam. Interest in snowboarding and freestyle skiing has exploded recently, and we want to provide not only the equipment the athletes need, but a place to show off their skills. By hosting the event downtown, spectators can attend easily. Our partners at Midwest Best and Granite Peak Parks Crew have worked hard to provide the best possible conditions for the event and we’ve been welcomed warmly by our host, the Library, and the City of Wausau. The event will be the “cherry on top” of a full-filled Winterfest day from Wausau Area Events.
