Supporting Youth Ski Racing & Celebrating Volunteers

Grand Theater, February 19, 2010. Audi's "Truth in Motion: the US Ski Team's Road to Vancouver"

There are some extremely generous people in the Wausau area.  Keith Kocourek is one of them, and the volunteers who support central Wisconsin ski racing are many, many others.

We were privileged to team with Kocourek Automotive on February 19th as they presented “Truth In Motion: The US Ski Team’s Road to Vancouver” at the Grand Theater in Downtown Wausau.   Shep’s provided displays of the very same race gear the olympians use as well as the race suit they wore while competing in the 2010 games, and with the support of Spyder apparel we showcased hot new ski fashions for the coming season.

Silent Auction. $ Raised for Wausau Area Youth Ski Racing

After watching the documentary while munching on free popcorn and soda we moved into the Great Hall for hors ‘d ouevres, drinks, tons of door prizes and a silent auction, which, with the generous support of Volkl, Spyder, Swix, Giro, and others raised a LOT of money for local race programs. (thank you donors and shoppers)

The best part for us was being able to offer an evening of entertainment, food and drink to the ski coaches, ski patrols, club members and racers who make Wausau a first-class ski town.  Nearly 500 of our friends were treated like the rock stars that they are.

Wausau high school racers, fresh off their trip to the State Meet. Nice models. Nice medals!

So thank you Kocourek Automotive for treating us so well, Audi for making a great movie, Granite Peak Ski Patrol, Granite Peak Ski Team, Rib Mountain Ski Club and everyone who made the evening one to remember. Hey Keith, let’s do it again!
